Excluding items, adjusted net income for the second quarter declined to $182.9 million or $0.36 per share from $299.6 million or $0.60 per share in the prior year quarter. On average, 26 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.34 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenue for the latest second quarter fell to $1.01 billion from $1.12 billion in the comparable quarter last year, while 23 analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $1.01 billion for the second quarter.
