James Franco is currently raising money for three films which are based on 10 stories from his debut short story collection, "Palo Alto."

The stories in Franco's book are based on his life experiences from high school in his hometown of Palo Alto, California. Right now he is asking for $500,000 through the crowd funding website Indiegogo in order to produce the films.

The films will be entitled "Memoria," "Killing Animals" and "Yosemite."

"Although it's a book of fiction, it was inspired by experiences I had growing up here, things that people I knew went through, and generally I see it as a book that's supposed to touch on universal things about being a teenager, coming of age, and learning about the bigger world," Franco said in a video on the funding site.
