Raptor Pharmaceutical Corp. (RPTP), a developer of life-altering therapeutics that treat rare, debilitating and often fatal diseases, Wednesday said that its delayed-release capsules Procysbi (cysteamine bitartrate) which got FDA approval on April 30, are now available in US for cystinosis patients. The capsules were approved for management of nephropathic cystinosis in adults and children aged 6 years and older.
Nephropathic cystinosis comprises 95 percent of cases of cystinosis, a rare, life-threatening metabolic lysosomal storage disorder that causes toxic accumulation of cystine in all cells, tissues, and organs in the body.
