Stone Cutter Inscribes Wrong Birth Date On Ed Koch's Tombstone

The tombstone of former New York City mayor Ed Koch will soon be fixed to reflect his correct date of birth.

The man who once served in the U.S. House of Representatives, died February 1 of this year. He was buried at Trinity Church in Washington Heights, but his tombstone had the wrong birth date engraved, The New York post reports.

Koch was born on December 12, 1924, but according to his tombstone which makes him mistakenly 20 years younger, he was born in 1942.

Although he passed away in February, the stone cutter recently engraved the wrong information on his tombstone just a few weeks ago. It wasn't until a manager from Trinity noticed the mistake and notified the family.

The World War II veteran died at the age of 88 of congestive heart failure. His birth date will be corrected by the same stone cutter who made the mistake.
