Ryan Reynolds is no longer connected to the "Highlander" remake. The star exited the film after the prospective director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo ("28 Weeks"), did the same last fall.
According to the Wrap, the "Green Lantern" actor did not give a reason for his departure from the flick. The film has been in development for nearly five years, and, before the departure of Fresnadillo had already lost one director.
Justin Lin, who was originally attached back in 2009, left to direct "Fast & Furious 6." Producers Neal Moritz and Peter Davis had been searching for a replacement director while Reynolds waited.
Had he stayed with the picture, Reynolds would have played Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman forced to confront the Kurgan, a brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled "prize."
