Estonia Output Price Inflation Slows Sharply In May

Estonia's producer price inflation weakened notably in May, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Thursday.

Inflation as per the producer price index decelerated to 3.4 percent in May from 4.6 percent in April, data showed.

The index was influenced by an 18.9 percent rise in prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, and a 1.7 percent gain in prices in the manufacturing sector. There was a 13.9 percent increase in prices in the mining sector.

Compared to April, the producer price index decreased 1.2 percent in May, the agency said.

At the same time, Estonia's export price index moved up 0.6 percent sequentially in May, but decreased by 1.5 percent from the same month last year. Import prices fell 3.4 percent from May 2012, and dropped 1 percent from a month earlier.
