Sylvania Montalvo, a Palm Bay, Florida woman, has been arrested and charged with neglect of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, after police found an undernourished child in her care.

The child, according to Florida Today, was taken to an Orlando hospital, where he was dehydrated, emaciated and in a "severe state of malnourishment."

Montalvo told her apartment manager that she had lost her job at Kmart, and she and her boy had subsequently failed to eat or drink for the following two weeks.

She was jailed with bond set at $35,000 and the judge ordered her to have no contact with the boy should she be released from prison.
