Steven Tyler says that Aerosmith will begin working on the band's new record once they finish up their current tour, which includes dates in the U.S., Japan, South America and Mexico.
Tyler told Billboard that the trek, which came in support of the band's most recent release, Music From Another Dimension!, helped get the boys through a rough period:
"It's funny that it took that for the band to realize how important we are to each other . . . Somewhere along the line there it got the band happy again, and we thought, 'Holy s—, we gotta do a f—ing record right now!' So, yeah, that tour helped us to a new album."
In the meantime, Aerosmith fans can look forward to Rock for the Rising Sun, a tour DVD from the band's current trek. It features 17 songs, behind-the-scenes footage and bonus material. It's due July 23.
