Aretha Franklin has canceled her show at Detroit's DTE Energy Theater a second and final time. The Queen of Soul made the announcement through her publicist David Brokaw:
"Regretfully I must cancel one last time my DTE Energy Pine Knob Music Theatre concert July 27 due to my miscalculation of the end of my treatment. It would be totally disruptive to stop them now and go into concert with total success right at the door, 100%. I love you much and more than the spoken word can tell. I'll see you next summer."
The show was scheduled for July 27 after being moved from June 22; it was slated as part of her One Last Time summer tour.
Franklin has been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness since 2010, when sharp pains in her side led her to undergo a series of surgeries. She recently appeared on American Idol, performing two songs by satellite from her home near Detroit.
