Carolina Trust Bank Posts Q2 Loss

Carolina Trust Bank (CART) Friday reported second-quarter net loss of $1.49 million or $0.32 per share, compared to net income of $301 thousand or $0.07 per share last year.

Net interest income rose to $2.62 million from $2.60 million a year ago. Non-interest income for the quarter dropped to $268 thousand from $342 thousand last year.

Ride-hailing company Uber's license to operate in London will not be renewed at the end of September, the transportation regulator in the UK capital said Friday. The move deals a huge blow to Uber and will impact more than 40,000 drivers using the company's app in London. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is testing a new service that not only does a customer's grocery shopping and brings the items to his home, but even puts the grocery directly into the refrigerator. Albertsons Cos., a major grocer, announced that it is buying meal kit company Plated, reportedly marking the first acquisition of a prepared-meals company by a national grocery chain. As per reports, the New York-based Plated, which does business as DineInFresh Inc., would be purchased for an estimated $175 to $200 million.
