The Malaysian government has filed a motion to ban metal giants Lamb of God from performing in Kuala Lumpur this fall. The band was booked to appear in the city on September 28 but is now facing pushback from the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia.
The department's chief officer Datuk Othman Mustapha released an official statement condemning the show.
"Lamb of God had drawn many controversies and was dubbed a 'satanic' band that fitted evil spirituality and anti-godliness even by the Christian community," Mustapha said, according to the New Straits Times. "The organizing of such events do not only corrode morality but also the faith of Muslims. Performances by heavy metal outfits that were often extreme also encouraged its audience to lose control."
