Luke Bryan, who has lost both a brother and a sister, recently opened up about the deaths to People magazine. Misfortune first struck his brother, who was killed in a car accident in 1996. Luke says it happened just before he was set to move to Nashville to pursue his musical dreams:
"I was never convinced I'd get back to Nashville, but I didn't spend time on 'Should I go or should I not?'" he began.
"It was just 'Not going.' Your mother had just lost a child. At that point, her youngest son was not going to leave the house. Chris' dying got me a little more mature."
His sister then died unexpectedly a few years later. Bryan says he regrets that his own sons will never get to meet his bro and sis:
"I don't like that my sons are missing that side of my family," he shares. "But someone else is deciding things."
