A Georgia state senator who was indicted and charged with fiddling his expense accounts and theft will likely be suspended while he awaits his trial, Governor Nathan Deal said to reporters on Wednesday.
The Governor agreed to follow the state's recommendation, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
Senator Don Balfour's attorneys argued that he can still do his job while under indictment.
Balfour is the longest-serving Republican in the Georgia Senate and represents a district just northeast of downtown Atlanta.
