Slipknot's Joey Jordison Says He Didn't Quit The Band

Following a statement from Slipknot regarding the departure of drummer Joey Jordison, the man behind the kit has come forward with his own version of events. Speaking with Metal Hammer, Jordison says he did not "abandon" the group:

"To my fans, friends, and associates . . . I would like to start the New Year by addressing the recent rumors and speculation regarding my departure from Slipknot," he began.

"I want to make it very clear that I DID NOT QUIT SLIPKNOT. This band has been my life for the last 18 years, and I would never abandon it, or my fans. This news has shocked and blindsided me as much as it has all of you."

The band's fronter, Corey Taylor, had previously said that the band did not give details of Joey's departure in order "to protect him." In his statement, Jordison noted that "I must remain silent to further details at this time."
