Greece's manufacturing activity deteriorated further in April, though at a slower pace than in the previous month, survey figures from Markit Economics showed Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted purchasing managers' index, or PMI, rose to 49.7 in April from 49.0 in the previous month. However, any reading below 50 suggests contraction in the sector.
New orders declined for the twentieth consecutive month in April. At the same time, output levels stabilized in April after falling in the previous three months.
Manufacturers raised their staffing levels further in April, but the rate of job creation was only slight.
On the price front, input prices climbed for the first time in four months in April. Increased competition forced firms to cut their selling prices again during the month.
