Universal Forest Products (UFPI) announced a profit for its first quarter that increased from last year.
The company said its bottom line climbed to $21.06 million, or $1.03 per share. This was higher than $19.21 million, or $0.95 per share, in last year's first quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.03 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter rose 24.0% to $846.13 million. This was up from $682.15 million last year.
