New Zealand Credit Card Spending Due On Friday

New Zealand will on Friday release April numbers for credit card spending, setting the pace for a light day in Asia-Pacific economic activity. In March, credit card spending was up 0.8 percent on month and 7.1 percent on year.

Malaysia will provide Q1 numbers for GDP and current account. In the previous three months, GDP was up 1.4 percent on quarter and 4.5 percent on year, while the current account surplus was 12.2 million ringgit.

Singapore will see Q1 figures for wholesale sales; in the previous three months, sales were up 0.5 percent on quarter and down 7.4 percent on year.

Hong Kong will release unemployment data for April; in March, the jobless rate was 3.2 percent.
