Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises (BW) reported a second quarter loss of $2.63 per share after the bell Wednesday, compared to the loss of $0.20 per share last year. The consensus estimate was for a profit of $0.06 per share.

Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises gapped open sharply lower Thursday and declined for the bulk of the session. Shares finished with a loss of $7.05 at $2.70 on the highest volume of the year. The stock plummeted to a new low for the year.
