Alibaba Holding On To Strong Gain In Afternoon Trading

After gapping open sharply higher, shares of Alibaba (BABA) continue to see significant strength in afternoon trading on Thursday. Alibaba is currently up by 3.8 percent after reaching a record intraday high.

The jump by Alibaba comes after the Chinese e-commerce company reported fiscal first quarter results that beat estimates on both the top and bottom lines.

Alphabet's subsidiary Loon LLC has secured its first commercial deal - to deliver 4G internet access to remote areas of Kenya using high-altitude balloons. Loon will partner with Telkom Kenya to deliver connectivity to parts of Kenya.
