CAC 40 Marginally Lower In Lackluster Trade

French shares were marginally lower in lackluster trade on Wednesday, as investors moved to the sidelines awaiting further clarity over North Korea and U.S President Donald Trump's tax reform bill.

The benchmark CAC 40 was down 3 points or 0.05 percent at 5,205 in late opening deals after gaining 0.6 percent in the previous session.

Eramet shares fell as much as 12 percent. Italian lenders Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. and UniCredit SpA announced that they have offloaded about 2.97 million shares in the French mining and metallurgy firm.

Lens maker Essilor, which is in the process of merging with Italian peer Luxottica, dropped 1.7 percent.

Airport operator Aeroports de Paris edged up 0.2 percent after unveiling its traffic figures for August.

Eurostat is scheduled to release euro area industrial production figures later in the day, with economists expecting output to rise 0.1 percent sequentially in July, reversing a 0.6 percent fall in June.
