Lady Gaga Reveals Cause Of Her Chronic Pain

Lady Gaga has revealed the cause of the chronic pain she has been suffering for years - fibromyalgia, a long-term condition which can cause pain all over the body.

The pop diva disclosed the diagnosis on Twitter, where she promoted her new Netflix documentary.

The illness features in "Gaga: Five Foot Two," in which she is filmed receiving injections to treat the severe muscle pain.

"In our documentary the #chronicillness #chronicpain I deal w/ is #Fibromyalgia I wish to help raise awareness & connect people who have it," the 31-year-old American singer, songwriter, and actress tweeted.

Lady Gaga had referred to her battle with chronic pain as early as 2013, but this is the first time she is publicly acknowledging the diagnosis, which can also cause fatigue and memory and mood issues.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, known professionally as Lady Gaga, on Friday performed at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she premiered "Gaga: Five Foot Two."

Directed by Chris Moukarbel, the documentary introduces the woman behind the performer, the glitz and the glamor for a deeply personal look.

"From struggles with relationships to health issues, from finding solace in her inner circle to conquering her insecurities, the film navigates the divide between life as a superstar and life as an everyday woman," the celebrity's official website says.

Netflix will stream the documentary online on September 22 in 190 countries.
