Red Hat Inc. Reveals 37% Increase In Q2 Profit

Red Hat Inc. (RHT) reported a profit for its second quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $138.27 million, or $0.77 per share. This was higher than $101.23 million, or $0.55 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.67 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 20.6% to $723.36 million. This was up from $599.81 million last year.
