CAC 40 Little Changed On Catalonia Worries

French shares were little changed on Monday amid political worries after Catalans voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence in a controversial referendum, which plunged the EU into a new crisis.

The benchmark CAC 40 index was marginally lower at 5,328 in late opening deals, with upbeat data from China, Japan and the euro zone offering some support.

Final data from IHS Markit showed today that the euro area manufacturing sector grew the most in over six-and-a-half years in September.

The final manufacturing PMI climbed to a 79-month high of 58.1 from 57.4 in August, suggesting expansion for the fifty-first month in a row. The flash score was 58.2. The French factory PMI came in at 56.1 versus 55.8 in August.

In stock-specific action, ballpoint pens and razors maker BIC slumped 8.6 percent after cutting its 2017 sales forecast.
