Slovakia Retail Sales Growth Accelerates In August

Slovakia's retail sales growth accelerated in August after easing in the previous month, figures from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Wednesday.

Retail sales, excluding automobile trade, climbed 6.8 percent year-over-year in August, faster than the 4.9 percent gain in July. Sales have been rising since August last year.

Sales of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores rose 6.0 percent annually in August and those of automotive fuel alone grew by 8.9 percent.

On a monthly basis, retail sales increased 1.5 percent in August.
