Google Unveils Pixel 2 XL

Google Wednesday unveiled its flagship smartphone the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, along with several other new products.

The new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL come with 5-inch and 6-inch displays, respectively. The Pixel 2 will come in "kinda blue," "just black" and "clearly white" colors, while Pixel 2 XL, which features a plastic-OLED curved 18:9 display, will come in "just black" and "black and white" colors.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are available for pre-order today starting at $649 in the U.S. Both products are also available in Australia, Canada, Germany, India and U.K. Google plans to ship Pixel 2 XL to Italy, Singapore and Spain later this year.

Both phones are powered by latest Android 8.0 Oreo and come with an always-on display which will help uses see notifications on the screen without having to touch the power button.

Google claims the camera of both the smartphones to be the best in the market, with it getting a score of 98 in DXOMark. The camera sports a 1/2.6-inch 12MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. It has Dual-Pixel Autofocus as well as Optical Image Stabilization and HDR+ technology.

"The Google Pixel 2 is the top-performing mobile device camera we've tested, with a record-setting overall score of 98. Impressively, it manages this despite having "only" a single-camera design for its main camera. Its top scores in most of our traditional photo and video categories put it ahead of our previous (tied) leaders, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, despite the Pixel 2 coming in lower in the new Zoom and Bokeh categories," writes David Cardinal of DXOMark.
