Spain's Industrial Output Growth Slows In August

Spain's industrial production growth slowed marginally in August, figures from the statistical office INE showed Friday.

Industrial production grew by adjusted 1.8 percent in August, following July's 1.9 percent increase. Production was forecast to grow at a much weaker pace of 1 percent.

On an unadjusted basis, industrial production rose 2.2 percent, slower than the 2 percent rise seen a month ago.

Among components, intermediate goods logged the biggest annual growth of 4.3 percent. Consumer goods output climbed 1.1 percent and capital goods output grew 1 percent. At the same time, energy production remained flat in August.

Month-on-month, industrial production grew 1 percent, reversing a 0.3 percent drop in July and a 0.1 percent fall in June. This was the first increase in three months.
