Report: Apple IPhone 8 Has Battery Issue

According to the Chinese state media, a customer in China found Apple Inc's (AAPL) new iPhone 8 Plus split open due to a swollen battery.

This is the latest incident as the tech giant investigates similar cases reported in Taiwan and Japan of batteries in its latest iPhone 8 and 8 Plus arriving out of the box with split open cases and bloated batteries.

China's state-media ThePaper.cn, reported that an iPhone buyer named Liu received his newly purchased iPhone 8 Plus split open on October 5. There was no sign of scorching or an explosion. The front screen piece is clearly bent, leaving the device in a non-functional state with the internal components partly exposed.

Although, Apple has not confirmed it seems that an expansion of the internal battery is causing the devices to split open.

This news is some bad PR for Apple which has been striving to recover its falling sales in China, which is world's biggest smartphone market.
