CAC 40 Slips Into Red Ahead Of Fed Minutes

French shares were slightly lower in cautious trade on Wednesday as the euro surged and investors awaited the release of minutes of the September Federal Reserve policy meeting later today for clues on the rate outlook.

The euro hit a two-week high against the dollar after Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont refrained from making a formal declaration of the region's independence on Tuesday.

The benchmark CAC 40 was down 7 points or 0.13 percent at 5,356 in late opening deals after closing marginally lower the previous day.

In stock-specific action, BNP Paribas slid half a percent after the lender announced new measures to boost its support for energy transition.
