Kendrick Lamar has become the latest artist to ban the use of cell phones at concerts, according to The Guardian. Lamar is also reportedly not allowing outside professional photographers to shoot his concerts.

"Lamar's fresh concern to limit the market is an attempt to protect his valuable "brand" and ensure the appetite for tickets remains keen," The Guardian reports. "A large part of the income of the music industry, even for bestselling artists, relies on the profits made by concert tours."

Through the use of technology like Yondr, fans are able to place their phones in a lockable pouch that unlocks only after they leave the no-cell-phone zone.

With the decision, he joins a growing list of artists including Alicia Keys, Guns N' Roses, Jack White, and the late Prince, to ban the use of cell phones at their concerts.
