James Hetfield Donates 1,000 Acres Of Land To Public Trust

James Hetfield has made a significant contribution to California's Marin Agricultural Land Trust. The metal icon and his wife are handing over 1,000 acres of land that boarders the Lucas Valley to the Marin County Open Space District, which will then hand it over to the trust.

"Our family is very happy to work with MCOSD and MALT on re-establishing agriculture and maintaining the scenic corridor of the ranch. We believe this is a huge community benefit, and one of our goals is to keep agriculture on the ranch for a very long time," Hetfield said in a statement.

The avid hunter also recently opened up about why he left the California area in favor of Vail, Colorado:

"I kind of got sick of the Bay Area, the attitudes of the people there, a little bit," he said. "They talk about how diverse they are, and things like that, and it's fine if you're diverse like them. But showing up with a deer on the bumper doesn't fly in Marin County. My form of eating organic doesn't vibe with theirs."
