Dolly Parton And Costars May Return For 9 To 5 Reboot

Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, the original cast of 9 to 5, may be prepping for a reunion. The ladies have previously expressed interest in revisiting their roles and now Deadline reports that a new version of the classic film is in the early stages of development at 20th Century Fox.

The film would reportedly focus on three young women facing the same sorts of issues faced by the original cast, but in the modern workplace. The original trio of actresses are rumored to provide guidance to their younger counterparts as they deal with their male bosses.

"We've been waitin' for a 9 to 5 reunion ever since we did the first one," Parton said at the Emmys. "And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot," Tomlin added.

Afterwards, Parton suffered mightily at the hands of Trump trolls online:

"I didn't know for several days that there had been that much of a … where I was being crucified, so to speak," she told Rolling Stone Country after the incident. "I was shocked and surprised that I was being bashed on. I thought, 'Well, I didn't do anything.' I can't answer for Lily and Jane! I don't do politics. I'm an entertainer. I don't ever voice my personal opinions about stuff like that. I don't know what it is that everybody thought I should or shouldn't have done. I couldn't tell them what to do. I mean, everybody knows that about them. But I was just happy to be back out there with the two of them, the three of us. We got a standing ovation, the first time since 9 to 5, which was such a powerhouse of a movie."
