Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder paid tribute to Tom Petty at the 2018 Oscars. The performance was featured during the "In Memoriam" segment, which annually honors artists who had passed away the following year.

Vedder performed a stripped down rendition of Petty's 1999 single, "Room At the Top." Vedder sang in a quivering, crooning voice with the sounds of a soft electric guitar being strummed in the background.

Some of the moving lyrics included, "I got a room at the top of the world tonight/ I can see everything tonight/ I got a room where everyone/ Can have a drink and forget those things that went wrong in their life."

Tom Petty died on October 2, 2017. Vedder's performance is the latest in a string of tributes to the rock icon.
