PERU: Central Bank Cuts Benchmark Interest Rate To 2.75% Per Year, From 3%

(Agencia CMA Latam) - The Peruvian central bank's board of governors agreed to reduce its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points, from 3.0% to 2.75% per year, considering that the expectations of 12-month inflation continued to decline.

In Peru, 12-month inflation expectations reached 2.19% in February 2018, slightly above the entity's target of 2% for this year.

The board of governors stressed that it is "attentive to new information on inflation and its determinants, to consider, if necessary, changes in the monetary policy position."

The next board meeting is scheduled for April 12.
