India's Inflation Slows Slightly In March

India's consumer price inflation slowed slightly in March, the Central Statistics Office reported Thursday.

Inflation eased less-than-expected to 4.28 percent in March from 4.44 percent in February. In the same period of 2017, inflation was 3.89 percent. The expected rate of inflation was 4.1 percent.

At the same time, food price inflation eased to 2.81 percent from 3.26 percent a month ago.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices gained only 0.07 percent in March, data showed.
