Kelly Clarkson has recorded a cover of "American Woman," the classic track originally made famous by The Guess Who.

Clarkson's version of the track will serve as the theme song for the upcoming series American Woman, which will premiere on June 7 at 10 p.m. ET on the Paramount Network.

American Woman will feature actress Alicia Silverstone, who will portray the main character, Bonnie Nolan. The cast also includes Mena Suvari, Cheyenne Jackson, and Jennifer Bartels.

Clarkson offered some details on how she got involved with the project in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I got to see the whole trailer for [American Woman] and the vibe of it, which I love, and I kind of got together with Jason Halbert, the producer of this song, and we wanted to create this moody kind of vibe and kind of pay homage to that '70s classic sound of it, too," Clarkson told EW.

"There are all these things that we love and we felt we wanted to represent American Woman and the whole lyric of it -- the strength and the boldness and the powerfulness I feel like American women exude," she added.
