CAC 40 Slides Amid Lack Of Catalysts

French stocks were moving lower on Tuesday amid lack of fresh catalysts.

Investors awaited the U.S. tariff announcement on $200 billion of Chinese imports in a dispute over Beijing's technology policy for direction.

The benchmark CAC 40 was down 15 points or 0.29 percent at 5,253 in opening deals after rising 0.3 percent the previous day.

ArcelorMittal shares fell 2.5 percent. According to Bloomberg, the steel manufacturer has lifted its offer for India's Essar Steel India Ltd. to about 420 billion rupees ($5.8 billion).

Video game company Ubisoft soared 4 percent after a broker upgrade.

In economic releases, France's payroll employment increased slightly in the second quarter, data from the statistical office Insee showed.

Net payroll job creation rose 12,500 in the second quarter after rising 47,500 in the previous quarter.
