Bob Dylan has been tapped as the first performer at Philadelphia's Metropolitan Opera House, which re-opens as The Met Philadelphia after renovation on December 3.

"Our initial show series has arrived! Bob Dylan & His Band will be kicking off this incredible run of events starting on December 3," the Met Philly announced on Twitter Monday.

Dylan's performance at The Met Philadelphia opening night will mark his 50th in the city, which is also part of his North American Tour.

The Metropolitan Opera House, which was once the largest theater of its kind in the world, is scheduled to open in December after spending $56 million for restoration.

The century-old 3,500-capacity concert hall is set to host a series of concerts. North Broad Street will come back to life with concerts by Ween on December 14, Kurt Vile on December 29, Greensky Bluegrass on January 11 and Amos Lee on April 6.
