Merck To Buy Antelliq For EUR 2.1 Bln Plus Debt Of EUR 1.15 Bln

Merck & Co. Inc. (MRK) said that it agreed to acquire privately held Antelliq Group from funds advised by BC Partners.

Merck said it will make a cash payment of approximately 2.1 billion euros to acquire all outstanding shares of Antelliq and will assume Antelliq's debt of 1.15 billion euros, which it intends to repay shortly after the closing of the acquisition.

The closing of the transaction is subject to clearance by antitrust and competition law authorities and other customary closing conditions, and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2019.

Starbucks Coffee Co. said Tuesday it is expanding its "Starbucks Delivers" pilot to an additional six cities across the U.S. The expansion of the delivery service, in partnership with Uber Eats, begins today in San Francisco, the first of six new markets to offer the service to customers. The coffee giant plans to bring Starbucks Delivers to nearly one-quarter of U.S. company-operated stores. The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras or APBA has signed an agreement to collaborate with Tradelens, a blockchain technology-based shipping platform, Europa News reported. The year-ago quarter's results included the impact of a hefty charge related to the U.S. tax reform. Quarterly sales increased 1.0% from the prior year. Both adjusted earnings per share and quarterly sales topped analysts' expectations.
