Cymer Inc. (CYMI) said its Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Bob Akins, was elected as chairman of the SEMI International Board of Directors. Akins, who was vice chairman of the board in 2007, succeeds Jerry Coder, President Emeritus of the IC Fab Materials Business Unit of Dupont Electronic Technologies, who served as the board's chairman in the last year.
Apart from the board of SEMI, Akins serves on the corporate board for KLA-Tencor and is on the board of directors for the University of California, San Diego Foundation. Akins is also a member of the Council of Advisors to the Irwin and Joan Jacobs School of Engineering at UCSD.
