Thursday, specialty retailer The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (PLCE) reported flat same-store sales for the month of August, while total sales grew 3%.
The Secaucus, New Jersey headquartered company's comparable store sales were flat compared to a 4% increase last year.
Total sales of $145.1 million for the four-week period ended August 30, 2008, increased 3% from $140.4 million reported for the four-week period ended September 1, 2007. During August 2008, the company opened six stores.
Year-to-date, sales increased 12% to $883.3 million from $786.9 million in the corresponding period last year. Year-to-date comparable store sales advanced 6%.
PLCE is currently down $1.79 or 4.26% and trades at $40.25.
