CommVault teams with Dell to offer new integrated backup-to-disk solution - Update

Wednesday, CommVault Systems, Inc. (CVLT), a provider of data and information management software applications, said that it is teaming with Dell Inc. (DELL) to offer a new integrated backup-to-disk solution that will give small- and medium-sized companies, or SMBs, better assurance that mission-critical data is protected, available and accessible.

The company said the offering is built on the new Dell PowerVault DL2000, the industry's first customer-installable, integrated software and hardware solution powered by the CommVault Simpana software, and gives a complete disk-to-disk based solution, to help customers execute and leverage a data management strategy that is uncomplicated and more cost-effective to deploy.

Organizations typically buy and use considerably more storage than they actually need due to redundant data and inefficient data management. The Dell PowerVault DL2000, powered by CommVault Simpana software, can assist to reduce costs and prevent unnecessary expenditures.

Dave West, vice president of marketing and business development, CommVault, commented that this latest CommVault integration into the long-awaited addition for Dell customers further accentuates CommVault's close partnership with Dell and CommVault's commitment to providing holistic data management solutions.

"Dell sees Simpana 7.0 as a natural fit for its new product lineup and Dell and CommVault customers can deploy and manage disk-based backup quickly for immediate and positive impact to their business and IT operations," West added.

Currently, the stock is trading down 4.19%, at $ 8.68 on the Nasdaq.
