Pinnacle Airlines September Load Factor Falls 2.2 Points; Colgan Air Load Factor Up 7.1 points - Update

Friday, Pinnacle Airlines Corp. (PNCL) reported that traffic and load factor for September 2008 decreased, while the company's subsidiary, Colgan Air reported increases in traffic and load factor compared to the prior year.

The Memphis, Tennessee-based Pinnacle Airlines' load factor for September was 73.7%, down 2.2 points from 75.9% in the comparable month last year.

Traffic for the month declined 2% to 373.21 million revenue passenger miles-RPM from 381.0 million RPMs in the same month of the earlier year. Capacity grew 0.9% to 506.45 million available seat miles - ASM from 502.12 million ASMs in the same month a year before.

Total number of passengers enplaned declined 1.1% to 808.35 thousand from 817.15 thousand in the same month of last year. Departures decreased 2.0% to 21.56 thousand from about 22 thousand in the previous year month.

For the year-to-date period, Pinnacle Airlines' load factor grew 0.1 point to 76.8% from 76.7% in the corresponding period of the previous year. Traffic was 3.62 billion ASMs, up 4.4% from 3.47 billion ASMs in the prior year period. Capacity increased 4.1% to 4.72 billion ASMs from 4.53 billion ASMs in the year-ago period.

Colgan Air Inc., a subsidiary of Pinnacle Airlines reported a 7.1 percentage points increase in its September load factor to 51.1% from 44.0% in the same period last year.

Traffic for the month more than doubled to 51.43 million RPMs from 22.75 million RPMs in September 2007. The company recorded monthly capacity of 100.67 million ASMs, up 94.8% from 51.69 million ASMs in the comparable period a year earlier.

Colgan Air carried a total of 215.13 thousand passengers in September 2008, compared to 124.34 passengers last year.

PNCL closed Friday's regular trading at $2.37, up $0.27 or 10.23%.
