Internet search engine giant Google Inc. (GOOG) Thursday announced the launch of SearchWiki, a tool to customize search by re-ranking, deleting, adding, and commenting on search results. SearchWiki will be available to signed-in Google users.
The company said SearchWiki, with a single click, will help users to move search results to the top or add a new site. Users can also write notes attached to a particular site and remove results that are not needed. The tool will store changes in users' Google account, and show these modifications every time when users do the same search in the future.
Further, the company said that the changes made by users only affect their own searches. SearchWiki also helps to share users' insights with other searchers. Users can see how the community has collectively edited the search results by clicking on the "See all notes for this SearchWiki" link.
GOOG closed Thursday's trading at $259.56, down $20.62, on a volume of 9.78 million shares.
