(RTTNews) - Monterey Gourmet Foods (PSTA:
News ), a manufacturer of fresh gourmet refrigerated food products, said Friday that it would close its Eugene, Oregon facility, and move the manufacturing of its Emerald Valley Kitchen products to Kent, Washington. The Eugene plant will close on September 4. The closure will affect about 25 people.
According to the company, it assessed all its production facilities and determined that relocating the Eugene plant production to the state-of-the-art Kent facility would optimize overall asset utilization, while providing customers more innovative and flexible production runs they require in response to changing consumer preferences.
About 25 people, who will be affected by the closure have been given advance notice, the company said.
According to Eric Eddings, CEO of Monterey Gourmet Foods, '' This was a very difficult decision because it affects the lives of our people, their families and the community. We want to thank our employees at the facility for their hard work, dedication, loyalty and many years of service."
PSTA closed Thursday's regular trade at $1.40, flat with the previous close, on 17,300 shares.
