(RTTNews) - Tuesday, TAM S.A. (TAM:
News ) reported a 16.8% rise in international traffic for August, compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, the company's domestic traffic declined 1.7% from the previous year. International and domestic capacity increased 24.53% and 5.9%, respectively, from the previous year. Both international and domestic load factor declined 4.9 percentage points year over year.
International traffic rose 16.80% to 1.57 billion revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs from 1.34 billion RPKs in the previous year. Capacity was up 24.53% to 2.13 billion available seat kilometers or ASKs from 1.71 billion ASKs last year. International load factor declined 4.9 points to 62.8% year over year.
Domestic traffic was 1.97 billion RPKs, down 1.7% from 2.01 billion RPKs last year. Capacity increased 5.9% to 3.14 billion ASKs from 2.97 billion ASKs a year ago. Load factor was down 4.9 points to 62.8% in the domestic market.
International traffic for the year-to-date period was 11.88 billion RPKs, up 14.40%, on a 22.80% capacity rise to 16.67 billion ASKs from the previous year. Load factor declined 5.2 points to 71.3%.
Year-to-date, domestic traffic increased 1% to 16.30 billion RPKs on a 10% capacity rise to 25.45 billion ASKs from the same period of the previous year. Domestic load factor declined 5.7 points to 64.1%.
TAM is currently trading at $13.92, down 0.27 or 1.90%, on a volume of 325K share on the NYSE.
