Tata Communications Inks Pact With SugarCRM; Teams Up With CWT
11/4/2009 6:02 AM ET

(RTTNews) - Tata Communications Ltd., in a filing with Bombay Stock Exchange, said it had inked a partnership agreement with open source CRM provider SugarCRM to offer On-Demand CRM applications to its customers in India.

The Mumbai-based company said this agreement marked its entry into the fast-growing software-as-a-service (SaaS) space, and was an extension of its managed-services portfolio.

By adopting SugarCRM's software, Tata Communications will bring an end-to-end service to help companies manage their marketing programs in a cohesive manner, increase the effectiveness of sales teams, and provide stronger tools to their customer support teams, the company said.

General Manager SaaS and Enterprise Mobility of Tata Communications Angira Agrawal said: "We have seen strong customer demand for subscription-based services, especially from sectors like manufacturing, pharmaceutical, technology, retail,(and) mid-size BFSI, which require high sales, marketing and customer-contact management."

SugarCRM's Vice President of worldwide sales Jeff Campbell commented: "India is one of the fastest-growing markets and we see tremendous demand for our CRM services, as companies embrace on-demand software to stay competitive in the marketplace. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Tata Communications and helping its customers improve business through effective CRM."
SugarCRM is a provider of commercial customer relationship management (CRM) software. Its applications currently serve over 500,000 users in 75 languages.

CWT telepresence

In a second filing, Tata Communications said it had teamed up with Carison Wagonlit Travel or CWT to provide CWT telepresence, an enhancement to its broader demand management offering that would enable CWT clients to access the Tata Communications network of public Cisco TelePresence Suites around the world.

Tata Communications-managed telepresence technology enables small groups to use high-definition video and real-time audio to meet at any time of either the day or night while in multiple locations worldwide, the company said.

CWT Telepresence offers clients a full range of services from help in determining if and when a virtual meeting meets their business needs, through management of the reservation process in any of Tata Communications' public telepresence rooms, to regular reporting on adoption and related cost savings. Also, CWT reinforces its position as a leading integrator of top-tier technology that enables clients to optimize their travel- and-meeting programs.

Worries About Impact Of Dubai Crisis Generate Substantial Selling Pressure – RTTNews Daily Market Analysis
The major U.S. index futures are pointing to a sharply lower opening on Friday, as traders react to news of a financial crisis in Dubai. The downward momentum comes after Dubai World, the main investment arm of Dubai, asked to postpone payment on some of its $60 billion in debt. Worries about a default by the city-state have raised significant concerns about the impact on banks.
