(RTTNews) - The biggest Arab carrier Emirates that entered its 25th year last month is planning to increase the services to 184 between India-Dubai sector by December 1, media reports said.
Presently, it operates 175 flights a week from Dubai to 10 destinations in India — Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi, Tiruvananthapuram , Ahmedabad, Kozhikode, and Kolkata.
The airline said it had registered a growth of 24% in passenger traffic in the sub-continent in the one-year ending September this year.
The airline introduced a direct daily flight from Dubai to Durban (South African) from October 1.
Vice-President, Commercial Operations, West Asia and Indian Ocean Majid Al Mualla said Emirates managed to register this growth, despite the global aviation industry was making losses due to economic meltdown. He added that India was a strong destination for the airline, and the response from the Indian government for all its proposals was encouraging.
Emirates was gearing up to meet the demand during FIFA world cup matches in Durban.
