Kelis has confirmed that she will release her fifth studio album, Acapella, next spring.
French producer David Guetta, best known for his work with the Black Eyed Peas on "I Gotta Feeling," will produce Kelis' new project. According to the singer, the title track was inspired by her baby son Knight, who she had with rapper Nas.
"Before you, my whole life was a capella . . . now a symphony is the only song to sing," she sings on the track.
Kelis and Nas were married in 2005 and divorced last April, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason. After Knight's birth, a New York City judge ruled that Nas will pay Kelis $660,000 in child and spousal support annually.
Acapella, the R&B singer's first album in two years, will be available through Geffen Records via Will.I.Am Music Group.
