(RTTNews) - Ne-Yo has teamed up with Macy's department stores to form a new campaign - RESPECT! - to help raise awareness for the prevention of domestic violence. The singer debuted a song called "Heroes" earlier this week on Late Night with David Letterman to support the campaign.
The track was officially released on Tuesday, February 2, and champions respect in everyday relationships. A portion of the proceeds from "Heroes" will go toward the Family Violence Prevention Fund.
"Respect is the foundation of positive relationships," Ne-Yo said in statement. "There's often too much violence around us - and we need to focus on and celebrate those behaviors that inspire healthy interactions. I hope this song brings visibility to the issue and encourages all of us to be heroes to others."
At a recent show in New York, Ne-Yo used the domestic assault incident between Chris Brown and Rihanna as an example of the violence the RESPECT! Campaign seeks to end.
"What happened between Chris Brown and Rihanna was unacceptable," he told the crowd, "and we need to all work together and make sure it never happens again, to anyone."
