Sysco Corp. (SYY) announced that William Day, currently senior vice president, merchandising and supply chain, will be promoted to executive vice president, merchandising and supply chain.
Sysco also announced that Alan Hasty, currently CEO of Sysco Cleveland, will be promoted to senior vice president, merchandising. Both promotions take effect July 4, 2010, the beginning of Sysco's fiscal year.
Day, 53, began his Sysco career in 1983 as a staff accountant at Sysco Memphis, was promoted to assistant controller of Sysco Corporation in 1999, and became vice president, supply chain management in 2003. In 2007, he was promoted to senior vice president, supply chain management and took on the additional responsibilities of the company's merchandising activities in 2009.
Hasty, 51, began his Sysco career in 1981 as a marketing associate for Sysco Orlando. In 1994 he was appointed executive vice president of Sysco Virginia, and in 1995 was promoted to president and CEO of that company. He was named president and CEO of Sysco Cleveland in 2004 and took on added responsibilities as CEO of Sysco Cincinnati, Sysco Central Ohio, and Sysco Pittsburgh in 2009.
